UPCOMING ACTS RETREATS FOR WOMEN October 1- 4, 2026
ALL RETREATS ARE HELD AT THE CENACLE ON THE LAKE IN METAIRIE, BUT BEGIN AT ST. PIUS X ON THURSDAY AT 5:30PM AND END SUNDAY AT 10:30AM MASS AT SPX WITH A RECEPTION FOLLOWING IN THE CAFETERIA.
Dianne Caverly: The ACTS Retreat was like no other that I have attended. It was a deeply moving experience of the presence of God in community, as distinct from private time with Our Lord (as many retreats provide). During a holy, beautiful and joyful weekend packed with graced conversations, surprises, laughter and (a few) tears, I met many beautiful SPX women of several generations. ACTS has given me a path to anchor myself to Jesus more deeply through my relationships with other SPX parishioners. And my observation is that friendships formed in the context of a faith community are an exceptional gift from God - even when activities seem completely secular.
ACTS is a wonderful way for us, as individuals and as SPX parishioners, to grow in love and service to Jesus and to others. I am so excited that we have this program at St. Pius X, and I am looking forward to a growing number of SPX women and men who are deeply engaged at SPX in faith and joyful service!
Susie Veters: My husband and I have been parishioners of St. Pius X for 14 years. Just recently I offered to be more involved with growing our parish’s faith formation offerings. Bringing ACTS retreats to SPX was on my list of things to research. Soon after I agreed to this effort I was invited to attend an ACTS retreat at another parish. I wasn’t sure what to expect. I honestly thought I was going just to scope it out for St. Pius X. I did not expect it to be the powerful spiritual experience that it was for me. I walked away from it with a strong feeling of the closeness of God and a renewed desire to grow in my relationship with Him and with those in my community. When I got home, I told everyone who would listen - “this is what God intended a faith community to be!” I would highly recommend anyone looking to grow in faith and friendship to attend one of the upcoming SPX ACTS retreats. It promises to be a highlight of your spiritual journey!
Taylor Chassaignac: As a new parishioner at St. Pius and a mother of two young children, I didn't know if the ACTS retreat would be for me. Fr. Jonathan encouraged my husband to attend the ACTS Men's retreat, and my husband encouraged me to attend the ACTS Women's Retreat in March 2026. It was particularly hard for me to leave my children. The last time I left my older daughter for a night was to spend the night in the hospital to have my younger daughter, so it's not something I'm accustomed to doing, and it felt like a big sacrifice. Despite this, I attended the retreat, and I could not be more thankful that the Holy Spirit nudged me just enough to get me there. I had a wonderful time over the weekend, and it has had a deep impact on me in my life since then. I have grown deeper in my relationship with God, and now that I have shared this experience with a number of other women at St. Pius, I'm forming a close knit community in my parish that I did not have before. Interacting with me new ACTS sisters helps encourage me on my own spiritual journey and reminds me to put God first, even when life gets busy. On top of that, now that both my husband and I have attended the ACTS retreats, our marriage and family is strengthened by the shared experience, and we both share with each other various prayers and practices learned from our respective ACTS groups. It's truly hard to imagine where I would be right now if I hadn't attended the retreat. The sacrifice of leaving my family for the weekend turns out to be well worth it for not just me but my whole family, so much so that I have decided to spend another weekend serving on the team for the upcoming retreat. I cannot encourage you more to attend this retreat!
